“Children first”

The floating island of Uros found on Lake Titicaca in Peru. The Uru people are in fact floating on totora reeds, years of layering their ground and weaving the reeds for homes and boats. One of the issues the community faces is access to clean water. In order to get drinking water they would have to sail farther away and even then the water is not as clean. Higher influx of tourism and commercial boats daily coming in has been one factor, but for any use of a restroom many will not sail that far and this also affect the quality of water near by or the access for clean water. Many organizations have started initiatives to bring clean water to schools.
